Maulana Ubaidullah Sindhi who was formerly known as Buta Singh Uppal was born 10 March 1872 in a Sikh Khatri family, in the Sialkot district of Punjab, India. He raised up by his two paternal Grandparents because his father died four months before he was born. After the death of his grandfather, Maulana Ubaidullah Sindhi was raised with the aid of his maternal grandfather at Jampur where he obtained primary education on secular schooling. In his childhood, he used to recognize all types of religions and become eager interested in knowing the policies of diverse religions. Even when he was a posthumous child, he never disappointed. So he confronted all forms of troubles and eliminated hurdles with unshakeable self-assurance and strong determination.
Acceptance of Islam:
At the age of sixteen, he embraced Islam in August 1887. The force which attracted Sindhi’s attention was the books of Muslim scholars. Those books were TAQWIAT-AL-IMAM written by SHAH ISMAIL and the second book was AWAL-AL-AKHIRAH. Besides, the primary book which was given to Sindhi by a Hindu friend was “Tuhfatul Hind”. This book was written by Maulana Ubaidullah of Malerkotla. Due to this book, adequate love of becoming Muslim started to form in Sindhi’s heart. So with the passage of time, Maulana Ubaidullah Sindhi remained in touch with Muslim students.And after getting into the fold of Islam, he left his home and went to BHARCHUNDI(A TOWN in district ghotki Sindh).
Maulana Ubaidullah Sindhi got education
at DAR AL ULOOM DEOBAND :
He became a disciple of Hafiz Muhammad Sadique who became the super Sufi saint of his time. Owing to limitless love given by means of his murshid, he added the phrase “Sindhi” at end of his name. After passing 4 months, he accepted with the aid of his murshid for pursuing higher Islamic education at DAR AL ULOOM DEOBAND. Maulana Sindhi got admission in Dar ul Uloom Deoband in the month of SAFAR1306 A.H. October 1888. Here Maulana Ubaidullah Sindhi became a person of versatile genius and paid proper heed to his education.
Within a brief span of time, he learned logic, Arabic, Grammar, and Philosophy.He additionally became a first-rate student of Sheikh Al-Hind, Hazrat Maulana Mahmud Hassan. So after getting an education at Deoband, Rampur, Gangosh, and DEHLI, he went back to Sindh and started teaching at AMROT SHARIF.
Jamiatul Ansaar:
In 1901, Ubaidullah former Darul Irshaad in Goth Peer Jhanda village in Sindh. He labored on propagating his college for nearly seven years. In 1909, at the request of Mahmud Al Hasan, he lower back to Deoband School in Uttar Pradesh. Here, he accomplished much for the pupil frame, Jamiatul Ansaar. Ubaidullah was now very energetic in covert anti-British propaganda activities, which brought about him alienating a huge quantity of the Deoband School leaders. In 1912, he established a madrassah, Nazzaaratul Ma’arif, which turned into a success in propagating and spreading Islam among the people.
Involvement in Pan-Islamism:
With gradual progress and pace, he entered himself in Pan-Islamic movement. He wanted to deliver Muslims out of the thick blanket of darkness and depression.As He attempted tooth and nail for bringing Muslims beneath one umbrella for demanding a separate state. Maulana Ubaidullah Sindhi played a splendid role in “Jamiat-ul-Ansar”. When he went to Delhi for the advertising of his organization, he gave top priority to kids and instilled the spirit of jihad into their minds.
Efforts of Maulana Ubaidullah Sindhi
to continue Pan-Islamic Movement:
During World War I, 1914 a lot of efforts made to continue the cause of the Pan-Islamic movement with other Sympathetic nations. Maulana Sindhi informed Afghanistan’s government that Muslims victimized by British and Indians. He went there to launch jihad in opposition to each of these influential groups. He made clear to Afghanis the importance of the geo-strategic function of Afghanistan.
After some years, Sindhi offered a memorandum to SHAIKH MUHAMMAD IBRAHIM. The salient function of the memorandum was that it offered Maulana as a Muslim freedom fighter from India who stood for the reason of Hindus as well as Muslims of the sub-continent. He also formed an agency with the aid of the name “JUNUD ALLAH” in Sher bazaar. Besides, in 1915, the Provisional Government of India fashioned by way of Raja Mahendra Pratap, Maulana Sindhi additionally joined it.
He also went to Russia at the invitation of Soviet leadership. He studied the ideology of Socialism during the course of his stay and got impressed. Maulana Ubaidullah Sindhi went to Turkey in 1923, to continue Shah Waliullah’s philosophy and movement and published a charter for the independence of India.
He went to Hejaz in order to get religious education. Maulana Ubaidullah Sindhi also imparted the philosophy of Hazrat Shah Waliullah and his son Hazrat Shah Ismail Shaheed. He lived there for thirteen years and went back to the sub-continent.

He was suffering from acute Diarrhea and was under medical treatment. Even then, he presided over a student federation conference in Hyderabad. He died in 1944 and buried in Rahim Yar Khan District.
