The poor performance of the national team, Mohammad Hafeez will tell the truth to the nation

Hafeez will tell in the press conference why the players were fined in the tour of New Zealand, why the results were not positive, why the numbers of the big players were changed, who was rested, and who was dropped.

Pakistan team director Muhammad Hafeez will hold a press conference after returning from New Zealand. According to sources, the 43-year-old former cricketer will tell the truth about the losses in Australia and New Zealand. He will also shed light on the changes in players’ approach, rotation policy, and why penalties were imposed.

The press conference is expected to be held in Lahore on Friday, January 26. It should be noted that Hafeez was appointed as the team director before the Test series in Australia. Pakistan was whitewashed by Australia 3-0 in the Test series, while New Zealand defeated the men in green 4-1 in the T20I series. Earlier, local media reported that Hafeez’s tour would end after the T20 series against New Zealand.

Hafeez, alias Professor, had a contract with the side till December 15. Meanwhile, it is also expected that other coaches and officials recruited by PCB during the tenure of former management committee chairman Zaka Ashraf will also resign. Hafeez’s contract extension papers were sent to caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar and the offices of the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination, but they did not extend the contract.

On January 19, Zaka Ashraf resigned as chairman of the PCB Management Committee during a meeting with the members. He announced that he has decided to resign as MC chairman and member. In his closing remarks, he thanked the PCB Patron for his trust and confidence and expressed his best wishes and prayers for the betterment of Pakistan Cricket.

Chief Election Commissioner Shah Khawar will hold the post of PCB chief until the general elections. Zaka Ashraf became part of PCB’s Board of Governors on July 6, replacing Najam Sethi as chairman on the same day. According to people present in the committee meeting, he said that I was working for the betterment of cricket, but we can’t work like this.

Now it depends on Prime Minister Kakar who he will nominate in my place. The meeting of the PCB Management Committee scheduled to take place in Karachi earlier this week was postponed on the orders of the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination. The agenda of the meeting included other matters, including the formation of BOG. Kakar had extended the term of the Ashraf-led management committee by three months in November 2023; this period ended in the first week of February.
